Golden Alliance Commences Drilling on Cocha Copper Silver Gold Project
VANCOUVER - Golden Alliance Resources Corporation reported that a minimum 2,000m diamond drilling program has commenced on its 100% owned 7,060ha Cocha Copper-Silver-Gold Project located in Junin Department, Peru. The drill program is proceeding with two drill rigs and will test the un-drilled South Cocha geophysical-geochemical target and a strong IP chargeability anomaly below 200m depth at the Central Cocha target.
Prior drilling at the Cocha Central target in 2006 and 2007 intersected high-grade copper-silver mineralization hosted by interlayered shale and clastic tuffaceous rocks. Highlights included: 37.9m averaging 3.61% copper and 38.2 g/t silver in vertical hole CO-07-20 starting at 54.37m and 30.23m averaging 2.67% copper and 24.1 g/t silver in angle hole CO-06-03 from 82.9m depth1. The primary objectives of the 2010 drill program include: Provide additional definition to the zone of near-surface high-grade mineralization intersected in previous drilling campaigns at Cocha Central Test the strong IP chargeability anomaly below 200m depth at the Central Cocha target First drill test of the South Cocha geophysical/geochemical target which consists of a 1.7km trend of copper-silver mineralization delineated by surface soil and rock sampling with a coincident high chargeability IP anomaly along a favorable geologic contact. "Cocha hosts an exciting high-grade discovery that has been confirmed with the previous two rounds of drilling," stated Joseph Grosso, President & C.E.O. "The current work program should give us further insight as to the scale of this copper-silver-gold project."
